Elite/Grayhounds & MN Prize win in

Finally a nice sunny weekend, with no
rain, proved to be fine ingredients for tournament championships for a couple
of local teams! The site was
In mens 50’s major plus play, No. 2 seeded Elite/Grayhounds of Little Canada, stunned the state’s No. 1
rated 50’s powerhouse Kevitt/Ploog 50’s out of
Brooklyn Center, in back-to-back games to capture 2008 championship honors. Kevitt was 2-0 in seed games heading into the finals, while
Elite was 1-1. Both games were thrillers with Elite nipping the Excavators
32-31 and 35-31 to win a berth in the SSUSA Tournament of Champions in Flordia next spring.
In the mens 55’s/60’s play it was the battle of the Prize Company,
with the 60’s Prize Company defeating the 55’s Prize club by five runs in the
finals and also winning a berth to the tournament of champions!

yet to be reported by tournament officials.
6’s Wild/WSL Tournament
recap
The 6’s Wild/WSL
tourney is fast becoming one the top softball events in the midwest! The tourney was broken down into a ‘Upper’ division and ‘Lower’ division. In the very tough
upper bracket this past weekend at the Treasure Island Softball Complex (Red
Wing), Contractor’s Capital topped the 16-team, star-studded field to win the
2008 championship, taking home the several thousand dollar championship prize
package!
CC double dipped
previously No. 1 ranked in the state Redwood/Worth twice in the finals with
30-20 and 13-11 scores. The championship was particularly sweet for CC due to
the fact they lost their opening round game to Salscheiders,
and had to come all the way back to win the title. Finishing a very respectable

Softball Classic saw the Easton/Hooters/Rockets men’s C club, featuring
legendary Robbie ‘Rocket’ Hortenbach at the wheel,
win the men’s class C championship, and check for over $1,000! That will buy a

softball, a reminder that the 6th Annual Mosquitoland
Classic still has openings for men’s 50’s/60’s/65’s/and 70’s tourney May
29-June 1 in Little Canada. Nearly 25 teams are expected from all over the

class A teams in the nation, have decided to merge
teams four weeks into the season. The end result is about 20 pretty good
players and sponsors are searching for new teams as we speak, and a lot new
traveling schedules are being planned!
